Bleeding the fuel injectors
After putting up with hard starting since the replacement of filters and zincs, I talked to the mechanic at Gartside Marine. He suggested I bleed the fuel injectors as the problem sounded like air in the system.
I loosened the fuel high pressure pipe at the injector and while there was fuel coming out of one of them, there was nothing coming out of the second while the engine was cranking.
I loosened the other end of the pipe at the injector pump and found there was no fuel coming out there either. At first I was afraid that the injector pump was faulty but after backing off the nozzle spring nut, I managed to get fuel.
The long and the short of it was (I believe) the air block was occurring in the injection nozzle. During the exploratory procedure I managed to kill the battery so had to remove it and take it home for trickle charging.
I started the engine and ran it for about 15 minutes. Sounded like normal so hopefully this issue is closed.
I plan to return to T2 at lunch today to see if she starts ok. I will update this entry with the result.
