SE 25 Kts. Partly cloudy.

Eric and I sailed under main and storm jib. It was wild. First time railed over. We were heeling over to the point that the decks were awash abeam as the spray flew over the bow and kissed our exposed flesh. Absolutely exhilarating! We beat out to the chain islands before rounding off and running through Banes Channel.

We were sailing wing on wing until I asked Eric to take over while I grabbed a beer. By the time I got back on deck we had an irrecoverable hourglass in the jib. I had to drop her and stuff her in the sack. (The jib. Into the sail bag... what were you thinking?)

It was gusting in Haro Strait. The frigid South wind ripped the frothy tips off the whitecaps and threw them in our faces as we stared death in the eye and laughed from our bellies.

Time was growing short. I had a date with the tribe at 4:30 so we dropped the main and powered back through Banes to the buoy. As we approached my mooring buoy, one of the derelict sailboats lost her mooring and headed for the beach (not before kissing another boat at anchor, on her way to oblivion). Eric exclaimed; "Should we do something?" To which I replied; "I'm not risking Trouper II for that piece of shit."

And here endeth the lesson. An amazing sail with a good friend. Talk about a "Good Friday".
