A fresh Southwesterly
SW 10-20 Kts, sunshine.
I only had three hours today so the first order of business was to 'deploy' the crab trap. After that I hanked on the jib and enjoyed a very nice sail indeed.
She was easy to manage on storm jib alone and fairly jumped through the water with her new bottom paint. I even ran into a freakin' seal at one point. I couldn't believe it. I felt a shudder through the hull and looking back witnessed a huge seal or sea lion roll over in pain on the surface. He cast me a menacing eye but was soon well astern as T2 surged ahead.
I attribute this very rare contact with the creature to the fact that T2's new bottom paint has rendered her completely silent.
Couldn't hoist the main. Hanks are jamming in the mast track. Will have to work it with some lubricant next week. She was a dream to sail. Either that damned bottom paint is a miracle worker or my father has managed to brainwash me over the past 52 years.
Hauled in another bountiful catch of dungeness crabs, returned to my buoy and put 'er to bed for another day. I feel very confident in my new mooring system. Tried to utilize stainless shackle and snap but the snap wasn't big enough to accommodate the thimble on my mooring line.
