To gartside for stuffing box inspection
In speaking with Gartside Marine about getting them to re-stuff my stuffing box on March 9 when I haul T2 out of the water for bottom paint, I was told they would have to see it first to assess the job.
So, I drove home to get my boots and then to Cadboro Bay. I rowed out to T2, motored over to Oak Bay Marina and spoke with Jake the Mechanic.
He told me the engine would have to be moved forward in order to free the stuffing box for replacement. He figured I'm looking at anywhere from several hundred to over a grand to repack the stuffing box and possibly replace the coupling. Or, I could just try to tighten it.
I've decided to forgo repacking for now and will make an appointment with Gartside, Oak Bay to have them try and tighten the stuffing box.
I will arrange for this after March 9th.
