Installing the transmission
Tom bruises his sternum working on Trouper II's inboard.
After being the guest of honor at our breakfast table, Tom joined me on board T2 and installed the transmission we removed last weekend. Total bill for repairs $179.00 not including sweat equity. It turns out the transmission itself is in great shape. After 35 years the lock nut on the coupling sleeve simply backed off when I put her in reverse a couple of weekends back at Chatham Island.
Gartside Marine installed a new output seal, locking nut, filled up the transmission with ATF and cleaned her up a little. They also bench tested the transmission and found it in good working order. Looks like I dodged another bullet!
Thanks for your help Tom. As always your expertise and perfectionism are deeply appreciated. Now on with the adventure!
