Local sail to Sidney Spit and back.
Dad and I enjoy lunch at anchor off Sidney Spit
Tuesday December 31, 2013
Dad and I departed CCYC at high noon in the hope of setting sail. Unfortunately there was a hiccup as we had no power to the ignition switch. Fortunately Tom was working on his boat just down the street so I called him and he quickly diagnosed a faulty in-line fuse holder. Once that was fixed, Tom was on his way and so were dad and I.
There was zero wind but we headed out to the spit to enjoy lunch provided by mom. We also enjoyed the first cup of hot coffee served on-board Trouper II in quite a while as dad had removed the propane tank some time ago. He was not surprised that among my first projects would be to get the stove and oven working again.
The coffee water is on!
We stopped by the boater's exchange in Sidney on our way to the club and were told that the Chesapeake furnace was a 'disaster' and that the reason they were discontinued 30 years ago (about the time dad bought his) was because they didn't work worth a shit. So ends that project. No wonder I haven't heard back from Dickinson Marine.
