There was a strong Ebb tide running through Baynes Channel which added to my disorientation. Before re-booting my chart plotter, I thought it was plotting me aground on the Northwest shore of Chatham Island. Even though I have sailed through Baynes many, many times, I was still unsure of where the hell I was. Proving once again you shouldn't rely solely on your electronics for navigation. Most times your gut is right.

At this point I was almost not moving against the tide at all so I started the engine and cleared Baynes Channel. Once clear, I dropped the main sail and turned for home. The rest of the trip was uneventful.
