Return to D'Arcy Island
Partly Cloudy, zero wind. Flood Tide
I took a half day off work with the intent of motoring to D'Arcy Island for a wienie roast. There was no wind and the tides were cooperating for the voyage. Flooding for the trip North and Ebbing for the return trip South. As there are very few Gulf Islands where you can have a fire I was pumped to row ashore and get smoky!
The trip was uneventful with the Not-O-Helm performing well. I wanted to drop anchor in the 'anchorage' off D'Arcy but much to my chagrin there was already someone anchored there. Not only that but I was navigating unfamiliar territory and tracking a couple of rocks just under the surface when my bloody tablet re-booted. Lesson learned; ALWAYS KEEP PAPER CHARTS HANDY.
By the time I was anchored off the South Coast, I only had an hour before I had to leave. So I shot some video, swabbed the decks and headed for home.
