Turns out Jesse couldn't free the stuffing box. So, after all that, I still have a leaky stuffing box.
But I do have a brand new shifter cable, assorted water hoses and the engine looks and runs great.
Will have to have Gartside pull the shaft and replace stuffing box when she comes out next Summer.
