Friday 13th Sail
Mix of sun and cloud
NE 10 - 15 Kts.
I think the radio said it was 1 degree. Yep, it was cold alright. But I had my long johns, ear muffs and wool scarf so I was fine. Had a very nice sail under main and jib. Sailed to Willows Beach and back, and around the bay. I was the only boat on the water. Very unusual. As dad would say; "Where the hell is everybody?"
Barnucka was planning to take Inkla to Cadboro Bay to beach her and begin the exhaustive repairs after she was holed a couple of gales ago. I Can't imagine, fixing that catamaran on the beach at Cadboro Bay. My god, hours and hours of being flat on your back in the sand, frantically working between tides. Insanity! !
It turns out he bailed out on that plan. Wind would have been on his nose the whole way. Can't imagine making the voyage from Oak to Cadboro Bay with that kind of damage to the hull. I would think the oncoming water would want to suck you under. Gives me the chills just thinking about it.
Noticed my jib halyard is chaffed and VHF radio had no reception. Will have to check antenna connection and research how to replace the halyard.
